To RID Members:
It has come to our attention that scammers posing as RID officials have been contacting members attempting to extort funds for various reasons such as holding your certification.
The scammers may have the victims’ email address or phone numbers. So far RID HQ is aware of several fake text messages to members requesting money. This is a “phishing” scam because the sender is “fishing” for your personal information. The goal is to trick you into giving up your personal, financial or account information. Phishing may ask you to visit a fake or “spoof” website, or call a fake customer service number.
RID does NOT solicit financial information via text!
Please do not reply to those inquiries and forward them immediately to firstname.lastname@example.org. We appreciate those who have brought this issue to our attention and we are working to protect our members’ privacy.
