The Member Services department is responsible for supporting the needs of the membership in accordance with the association’s mission. This includes, but not limited to, maintaining the registry of interpreters database, providing daily customer service to stakeholders, and researching and implementing member benefits. RID recognizes that the work we do cannot be accomplished without our volunteers. A main priority of Member Services is the continued support of the Affiliate Chapters and Member Sections within the volunteer leadership structure.
What we did?
One of the goals of the Member Services department for Fiscal Year 17 was to continue to improve on our internal systems and procedures. There were many processes and procedures that needed to become more efficient and streamlined. This included improvements to our internal renewal procedures, cleaning up information in our database and simplifying our conference registration procedures.
In addition, we continued to support the revitalization of the Golden 100/Silver 200 fundraising campaign. This campaign is set up to support the development and administrative costs of the CDI examination. To date this program has yielded $168,000. The goal of this program was to raise $450,000 to put toward the CDI. You can view a breakdown of the funds requested and also keep track of the money raised here.
What are our challenges?
Our biggest challenges continues to be related to resources. We have ideas to support mentorship efforts and enhanced data collection that could be used for grants and other sponsorship efforts. These ideas require dedicated time and financial resources we did not have for FY17. As RID moves toward a zero based budgeting approach, we must continue to find ways to improve systems and processes with less financial resources. We have database upgrades we would like to make which would improve the member experience and also save time for the staff. These upgrades were put on hold for FY 17. We hope to be able to implement some of these ideas in the future to continue to improve our offerings.
Headquarters often receives requests from government agencies, researchers, and employers regarding demographic information to aid in their work. It is vital to the community to have an accurate representation of our membership. By logging into your RID membership account and updating your profile with your information, you can help researchers and employers make advancements in the field.
