Now Hiring for Program Administrator 1 - American Sign Language

Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities is a State of Ohio agency seeking qualified applicants interested in working with individuals with disabilities to achieve quality employment and independence. Would you like to help people as a State of Ohio employee?

As a PA1:
• Provides program direction by participating in activities for Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) related to communication, outreach & advocacy: Provides American Sign Language (ASL) &/or other forms of English signing interpreting services for individuals (e.g. consumers, employers, staff, public) who are deaf or hard of hearing. Formulates & implements program policy related to facilitation of effective communication for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing; translates meaning between individuals utilizing ASL and others; converts sign language into spoken language & spoken language into sign language; ensures understanding; promotes mission & vision of OOD; provides interpreting services one-on-one, with OOD staff, at OOD meetings, events &/or public forums; identifies resources needed & previews information as applicable to confirm understanding of material to be interpreted; disseminates information. Assists with special assignments & projects. Travels throughout Ohio. Performs other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualified Applicants:
• Demonstrate fluent communication in American Sign Language &

• Completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, management science or public administration; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position which involved limited research & public contact.

• Or completion of undergraduate core program in academic field commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on file; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in supervisory, administrative, managerial &/or staff position which involved limited research & public contact.

• Or 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in business administration, management science or public administration.
• Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

• Salary starts at $21.69 for the first six months
