Become a Test Site

The RID Certification Program currently administers examinations through a system of test sites. The test sites administer examinations year-round.

Hosting a test site and administering the exams involves a commitment of time and facilities; however, it is a valuable contribution to your fellow interpreters and can be a very rewarding experience.

For further information and application materials, please contact the Certification and Education Department.

What’s involved in becoming a test site?

  1. Each site should have a site coordinator to serve as the main contact for the site.
    Site coordinators:
    • Are responsible for maintaining a secure location for the test materials and scheduling testing appointments with candidates.
    • Schedule Test Administrators.
    • Can also serve as Test Administrators.
    • Ensure there are adequate testing facilities and administrators to offer the exams.
  2. Sites should be able to offer at least 50 testing appointments per year.
  3. For the NIC Interview and Performance Examination, only one room is required.
  4. Equipment needed for the exams include:
    • a DVD player and remote control
    • a VHS player
    • 21” or larger TV monitor
    • a video camera in VHS, VHS-C, Hi8 or mini-DV format.
