SUMMARY: The Ethical Practices System (EPS) Coordinator enhances the mission of the Association by supporting the coordination of the RID Ethical Practices System (EPS) and the RID Ethics Committee. The EPS Coordinator is part of a team committed to the practical application of ethics, specifically the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct (CPC), to the interpreting and transliterating professions, as well as to RID members and certification holders. The EPS Coordinator will address a broad range of issues as applied to ethics, credentialing, and professional discipline. The EPS Coordinator assists the department’s director in coordinating three core areas: case management, document management, and process management. The EPS Coordinator will assist with processing of complaints regarding alleged violations of the NAD-RID CPC following the practices and procedures outlined in the EPS Manual. In addition, this individual will provide information, education, and referrals in response to inquiries from members and the community at large regarding the NAD-RID CPC.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Oversee the coordination of the EPS Program in the areas of case management, document management, and process management.
  • Respond by telephone,videophone and e-mail to sensitive, confidential inquiries from members, consumers, and parties about ethics complaint filing and basic ethics complaint processing
  • Serve,on an as-needed basis,as the staff  liaison to the Ethics Committee meetings by preparing Committee task logs, administering the Committee’s web page, and monitoring the status of Committee member work
  • Organize, file, and maintain complaint mediation and adjudication materials, both in print and electronically, as necessary for ease of access by mediators, adjudicators, and HQ staff as appropriate
  • Use professional judgment to prioritize and respond to daily inquiries for ethics guidance and collaborate with appropriate Headquarters departments and/or RID committees for subject matter referrals
  • Establish and maintain internal documents and processes,including a case- tracking system, to promote departmental efficiency and responsiveness
  • Interface with and support the work of the Ethics Committee, ITP programs, and related professional licensing entities to assist with the development and distribution of ethics education resources
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in communications, English, ethics, justice, philosophy, political science, history, legal studies, pre-law, health studies, sociology/psychology or a related area
  • At least 3 years of related experience in the responsible administrative experience supporting a unit or project within a complex organization
  • ASL and written English fluency required.
  • Proven diplomacy skills and commitment to customer service
  • Experience with database programs
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and independent decision-making
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while also working collaboratively with a team to develop and carry out projects and duties
  • Demonstrated administrative and coordination skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google products
  • Ability to interact effectively and employ sensitivity, tact and diplomacy with staff, members of the board of directors, stakeholders, volunteers, members and visitors
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural management skills working with individuals experiencing stress, conflict and strong emotions
  • Demonstrated ability to exhibit compassion, patience and respect to parties in EPS cases during all interactions and communications
  • Experience in association management preferred
